The drying laundry thing makes a lot more sense.

Lucy- Good luck with your proposal. If it flies I think you should do a post on your blog next year soliciting input for cool things to do during your work-free June! Hope my blog can help make your case, but you might check and see if your boss is either a singlespeeder or someone who gets to the airport way early before you cite it. ;^)Watcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02248341788957416471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9199848742267562587.post-84121714296081882872009-06-06T23:37:49.012-06:002009-06-06T23:37:49.012-06:00I just gave thanks to cottonwood cotton floating o...I just gave thanks to cottonwood cotton floating on the breeze today in Cache Valley. It was all over the place!
I agree, June is spectacular and I am going to cite your blog in my proposal to my boss to get one month of leave without pay next June.Lucyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10896006691904225007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9199848742267562587.post-53444220893899466642009-06-05T15:32:52.956-06:002009-06-05T15:32:52.956-06:00Back in recent history people used to dry their la...Back in recent history people used to dry their laundry on clothes lines in the back yard. When cottonwood seeds drifted into the damp sheets they stuck and dried with the sheets, cementing themselves to the fabric. They had to be picked off one at a time. This led several cities in Kansas to pass laws making it illegal to plant a cottonwood inside the city limits.Dale Hoytnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9199848742267562587.post-71074087787010161752009-06-04T05:34:57.927-06:002009-06-04T05:34:57.927-06:00KKris- I also doubt your culprit is the Cottonwood...KKris- I also doubt your culprit is the Cottonwoods. They finished pollinating weeks ago. I get nailed by something every year around mid-May. Last year I suspected planted Austrian/Scots Pines, but this year I was clueless.Watcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02248341788957416471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9199848742267562587.post-8018999918257446092009-06-03T09:50:14.609-06:002009-06-03T09:50:14.609-06:00Good ode to the Cottonwood. Their fast growth makes them good for getting shade / wind block fast. Unfortunately they tend to fall apart, as you noted.

The only (unfair) negative I have with Cottonwoods is my allergies flare up when the cotton flies. I doubt I'm allergic to the cotton, but something is in the air near that same time that makes me miserable.

As for the previous neighbor, I'll just say I don't like that attitude. I work with a guy who says things like "mark my words Obama will be the worst president ever". He's a good guy in most other aspects, but I find that "us vs them", sore loser, uncompromising stance distasteful.KanyonKrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01954169751206336705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9199848742267562587.post-68411360407291715912009-06-03T08:11:05.623-06:002009-06-03T08:11:05.623-06:00ahh, the ill-informed Conservative neighbor.....
